You already know your writer has something special.
They're the kind of writer who reads with hunger, who simply isn't satisfied with run-of-the-mill writing classes that rehash the Hero's Journey over and over again, who wants to build their craft to new heights of wordplay and wisdom.
This mentorship structure - my most comprehensive, most personalized offering, is built specifically for that writer.
What your writer receives:
No fixed slots, and no rigid cadence. This is mentorship on your schedule. Book sessions when the work calls for it: to shape loose ideas into a tight outline, to power through the messy middle of a draft, or to polish a piece to perfection right before a deadline. Those 4 sessions reset every month, so that you can book weekly or arrange them around your busiest weeks. You also obtain priority booking for all available slots.
I work with your young writer to expand their creative comfort zone, since all genres and mediums help strengthen writers in different ways. Rather than only telling one type of story in one particular way, we'll work at your writer's pace and comfort level to help them achieve reach goals. This is the most important tool for creative growth that all other writing classes, workshops, and camps are missing; you'll be astounded by the exponential improvement in your young writer's abilities.
Every long-form project is examined from the inside out: structure, tone, voice, pacing, argument, arc. Our shared goal will be to get every project as close to the writer's vision for it as possible.
We'll also developmentally examine work from your young writer's favorite authors and poets, which hones them into sharper readers, and helps them bridge what Ira Glass calls "the gap" - the distance between their analysis own work, and their admiration for established writers.
Syllable-level attention to language. Every sentence, every word, every unit of poetic meter is valued as a true artistic choice. We'll discuss rhythm, meter, tense, POV, wording, when to cut a line, and when to push further to take their projects from a draft to a finely polished work of art.
Not only do I offer this deep level of editing to my mentees - I also teach them how to edit work creatively, to be better writers both individually and within writing communities.
No basic templates, and no curriculum pulled from standardized sources. I take pride in developing all of my material for my mentees directly. Each lesson is built for this writer, this project, and this moment in their development.
Your writer works directly with me for the entire span of the mentorship, to best respect their projects, their voice, and their history as a writer.
What this looks like over time:
Every writer arrives to mentorship at a different stage in their development. Here's what sustained, focused work can look like depending on where your writer is starting.
If your writer is in the early stages of a large project (like a novel, a screenplay, a poetry collection):
At three months: a detailed outline, the emotional core of the work fully developed, themes and style settled, and the first chapters or sections drafted.
At six months: a complete first draft, well into structural edits, possibly beginning line-level work.
If your writer already has a first draft:
At three months: structural edits complete and a full first editing pass done.
At six months: fully edited through line edits and polishing, preparing to send to publications or self-publish.
If your writer wants to grow their craft more broadly:
At three months: writing confidently in new genres and mediums, finishing projects that have been left unfinished, and developing a richer set of literary influences.
At six months: a robust portfolio showcasing range and depth, ideal for competitive college applications, with work being submitted to publications in an organized, strategic way.
These aren't guarantees. They're what I've seen happen when a gifted young writer has consistent, expert support and shows up ready to work.
A note on pricing:
The Bespoke Mentorship is $500 per month.
I list this here, plainly, because I think families deserve to make financial decisions with full information in front of them. There are other writing mentorship programs worth exploring, and some of them are excellent. Many don't publish their pricing until after a significant onboarding process, and most charge over $500 dollars even for group workshops, much less 1:1 mentorship. You're welcome to look around, of course! However, I believe you should know exactly what you're considering before you invest, especially since as thoughtful parents you have already invested so much time, money, and energy into your family.
What $500 covers on my end: weekly preparation, curriculum built from scratch for your specific writer, developmental editing, line-by-line editorial attention, detailed written feedback, and sustained creative partnership week after week. Broken down, that comes to roughly $15 per hour of work that goes into mentorship at this level. I want that number to feel like an obvious investment, not a surprise.
